Hamilton is board-certified in emergency medicine and medical toxicology. During the interview, he discusses new technologies being used in emergency medicine, whether medical dramas on television are anything like life in the real E.R., and how to understand a true medical emergency.
“Ultimately, if you feel your health care needs can’t wait until you can get in to see your doctor or that you will get worse if you wait, then you should come to the Emergency Department,” said Hamilton, who see patients at Hahnemann University Hospital.
A captain in the U.S. Naval Reserves who was mobilized to active duty in 2004, Hamilton also discusses the types of injuries being suffered by military troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
