Let the Golfing Begin! 2008 Manuel Stamatakis Golf Classic

On Monday, July 28, Drexel University College of Medicine will tee-off for the 7th annual Manuel Stamatakis Golf Classic. The outing recognizes Manuel Stamatakis, chairman of Drexel University College of Medicine, for his dedication to the College. Proceeds will be used to support a scholarship fund in his name for the benefit of medical students with proven academic ability and financial need.

The 2008 Manuel Stamatakis Golf Classic will take place at Philadelphia Country Club, 1601 Spring Mill Road in Gladwyne, PA. Co-chairs are Richard Homan, M.D., senior vice president for health affairs and Annenberg Dean at Drexel University College of Medicine; Michael P. Halter, CEO of Hahnemann University Hospital; and William R. Sasso, Esq., chairman of Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young, LLP. Honorary co-chairs are Drexel University President Dr. Constantine Papadakis and G. Fred DiBona, III, vice president of marketing at Capital Management Enterprises.

Following registration at 9:30 a.m., the day kicks off with lunch on the terrace, followed by a 12:30 shotgun start. After golfing, there will be an awards and recognition dinner, at which time the recipients of the Manuel N. Stamatakis Medical Education Scholarship will be announced, along with the raffle and other prize winners.

Last year’s Manuel Stamatakis Golf Classic attracted 180 golfers and raised $286,250 dollars, funding scholarships for four medical students. To date, the annual outing has raised over $1.5 million.
