During the interview, Chowdhury discusses the various types of illnesses that can afflict travelers and offers advice to help avoid getting sick.
"Travelers do get sick – everything from jet leg to diarrhea to much more serious illnesses like malaria and hepatitis," said Chowdhury. "That’s why it’s important, especially if you’re traveling to a developing country, to consult a physician and make sure you receive the proper vaccinations and other precautions."
