According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than three million people may be infected with the virus and most of them don't even know it. But one Philadelphia program is trying to raise awareness about this disease even if it means going door-to-door.

Drexel University College of Medicine is the only academic medical center in Philadelphia studying the AngelMed Guardian System, an implantable cardiac monitoring device designed to track significant changes in the heart's electrical signal. The system alerts patients to seek medical attention. This device is designed for patients who are at high-risk of having a first or recurrent heart attack.

The twelfth annual Manuel Stamatakis Golf Classic is set for Tuesday, June 18th at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. Stamatakis, a trustee of Drexel University and its College of Medicine, hosts the yearly golf outing to raise scholarship funds. The College established a scholarship in his name to benefit medical students with proven academic ability and financial needs.
