Welcome
We are pleased to use this communication vehicle to provide information about various educational and research activities conducted by this center.
Our Center was founded at the Drexel University College of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA as a result of a research grant from the Tenet Healthcare Foundation in December, 2001. The center aims to conduct research in surveillance of hospital infections using leading edge computer based real-time technology developed by the Tenet. This technology allows for total hospital surveillance, rapid identification, and analysis of potential outbreaks and will provide the structure for assessing interventions to reduce morbidity, mortality, and length of stay and improve cost-effectiveness and quality of healthcare.
The Center conducts educational seminars targeted at clinicians in general and infection controls practitioners in particular with an aim to increase awareness of the importance of preventing hospital infections and provide updates on currently recommended infection control practices. The first national seminar titled ‘Hospital Infections” was conducted at Drexel University Center City Hahnemann Campus in Philadelphia on November 06, 2002. You are invited to press the “Seminars” icon and access the lectures presented by various invited speakers of international repute.
This website is an interactive portal for ongoing education and exchange of ideas and information. You are invited to click on the “Discussion” icon to enter the threaded discussion web-page. Here you will be able to exchange information, query colleagues, and carry out exciting discussion on all topics related to infection control with others.
The “Resources” icon provides links to several important web-sites and web-pages dealing with healthcare related infections. These links will be updated frequently. Please use these links for referring to latest clinical practice guidelines and broadening your knowledge of the subject.
We believe our website will help you understand the scope of healthcare related infections and provide a valuable resource in your professional work. We encourage you to let us know your thoughts about our website and our approach to research on hospital infections.
