The Department of Anesthesiology at Drexel University College of Medicine continues the proud traditions established by the departments of its founding partners, Hahnemann Medical College and Women’s Medical College: provision of outstanding clinical care to patients, and unparalleled dedication and attention to the educational needs, welfare, and goals of the students at Drexel University College of Medicine and the residents in training programs at Hahnemann University Hospital.

The faculty, resident physicians, nurse anesthetists, and support staff channel their energies on the Departmental Mission of respecting people, first by making patients the focus of our efforts; second, by excellence in the education and training of students and resident physicians; and third, through mutual support and sensitivity to each other’s time.

Through these guiding principles, department members create the cohesiveness of group effort and the welcoming environment within that are needed to support and provide for others in the hospital and the college, to achieve excellence within and outside the department, and to synthesize and generate new knowledge for the community.
