Currently Anil Mysore Kumar, M.D. is chief for the Division of Transplantation at Hahnemann University Hospital, professor of surgery for the Department of Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine, and surgical director for the Division of Transplantation at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.
Administrative Experience in Kuwait:
Anil Mysore Kumar, M.D. was involved in organizing the work in the Department of Organ Transplantation, under the chairmanship of Dr. G. M. Abouna. He was the acting chairman on many occasions. In December 1987, when the Clinical Service of Department of Organ Transplantation was relocated in Hamed Al-Essa Kidney and Organ Transplant Centre, Dr. Kumar was involved as acting chairman in transferring the department from Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital, re‑establishment of the transplant service and teaching in the new Transplant Center.
Clinical Research Projects:
Anil Mysore Kumar, M.D. is actively involved in clinical research in transplant patients. Since January, 1980, he has actively participated and completed the following projects:
1. The effect of random and donor specific transfusion on the graft survival in kidney recipients.
2. Preservation and transplantation of imported cadaveric kidneys.
3. Correlation of ATP levels in cadaver kidneys to the renal function.
4. Developing different protocols of immunosuppression.
5. The use of living unrelated donors.
6. Effect of HLA typing on graft survival.
7. Effect of Cyclosporine in transplanted kidneys.
8. Septicemia in renal transplant recipients.
9. Tuberculosis in renal transplant recipients.
10. Effect of renal transplantation on uraemic cardiomyopathy.
