Introduction
Drexel University College of Medicine – a new name adopted in July 2002 when the former MCP Hahnemann University became a not-for-profit subsidiary corporation of Drexel University – has already distinguished itself as a dynamic force in academic medicine. The College is a diverse and growth-oriented institution comprising many distinct medical and clinical specialties. The Drexel University College of Medicine brand identity must be unique, consistent, and symbolically appropriate for all audiences. Our brand identity differentiates Drexel University College of Medicine as an academic medical institution and provides a unifying graphic framework that supports our vision and mission. The standardization of the Drexel University College of Medicine visual identity is an important step in promoting and reinforcing the positive steps being implemented throughout our facilities and campuses.
This manual outlines specific standards for the use of the Drexel University College of Medicine wordmark (name), logo, and seal and the Drexel dragon symbol. The objective of this Brand Identity Manual is to provide a reference tool for their design and usage. These graphic elements and the accompanying guidelines were developed through the Drexel University College of Medicine Communications Department, together with the Office of the Dean, the University Relations Department of Drexel University, and the College of Medicine Board of Trustees.
All individuals who develop communications and marketing materials that represent Drexel University College of Medicine have a responsibility and an obligation to utilize these guidelines for their materials. Despite the close relationship with Drexel University, it is important for legal reasons that all marketing materials identify Drexel University College of Medicine as a separate not-for-profit subsidiary of Drexel University. The consistent graphic appearance of Drexel University College of Medicine publications, correspondence, collateral material, ancillary products, advertising, signs, and announcements contributes to a strong visual image that is clearly and easily identifiable as Drexel University College of Medicine.
As Drexel University College of Medicine continues to grow, our brand identity will provide a constant reference to our relationship with Drexel University and the core values of our institution. Our commitment to excellence and consistency in design for both internal and external audiences will reinforce our identity with the healthcare community and the surrounding geographical area.
