POLICY: MARKETING, ADVERTISING AND PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS

I. PURPOSE

This policy was established to explain Drexel University College of Medicine’s position with respect to advertising, marketing and promotional materials. For the purpose of this policy, advertising, marketing and promotional materials shall refer to all written, printed or graphic representations utilizing the Drexel University College of Medicine name, trademarks and logos. It is particularly important that there be no confusion by patients or the general public that they are receiving medical care from Drexel University College of Medicine and not Drexel University. Failure to comply with this policy will be considered actionable behavior by senior management and could result in disciplinary action.

II. POLICY

All advertising, marketing and promotional materials for Drexel University College of Medicine should be forwarded to the Office of Communications & Marketing for review of compliance with the College’s brand identity guidelines. The Chief Communications Officer or designee must review in advance all advertising (print, billboard, graphical representations) and promotional videos for Drexel University College of Medicine. This policy does NOT apply to recruitment ads placed by the Human Resources Department.

It is the policy of Drexel University College of Medicine that all visual communications utilizing our name be consistent with uniformly high professional standards in content and appearance. This policy applies to all departments, programs and centers of the University. Drexel University College of Medicine should be consistently and clearly identifiable. Any advertising, marketing and promotional materials paid for in part or wholly by University funds or public and private grants awarded to the University are included in this program.

Use of Copyright Material
advertising, marketing and promotional materials must adhere to our guidelines for copyrighted materials. Reproduction of copyrighted material must have prior written permission of the copyright owners. This policy applies to periodical articles, books and other printed material; artwork; photographs; video; and music. The payment of royalty fees for the use of copyrighted material is the responsibility of the department using the information.

Consent Forms
The appropriate consent forms must be obtained for photographs and personal statements used with the intent to publicize Drexel University College of Medicine. The consent forms allow the College of Medicine to incorporate photographs and personal quotes in promotional materials, including paid advertising.
