Therapeutic Procedures for the Fetus Minimize
The physicians at our Feinstein office have performed revolutionary therapeutic procedures, which help sick babies while inside mothers’ uteruses. One type of procedure involves carefully guiding a needle into the baby’s umbilical cord to draw a small amount of baby’s blood. The blood is then tested to determine the health of the baby. If the blood results indicate the fetus is sick, then blood can be transfused into the umbilical cord to help the sick fetus. We have been intimately involved in dealing with fetal therapy procedures including fetal blood transfusion, open fetal surgery, renal shunt therapy, and stem cell therapy.
