Katherine D. Sherif, M.D., is Director of the Drexel Center for Women's Health and Associate Professor of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Sherif's areas of expertise include hypertension, menopause, diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome and heart disease prevention. Dr. Sherif has a special interest in international women's health issues. She was awarded a Fellowship in Medicine and Human Rights from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. She also received an award for Humanism in Medicine.Dr. Sherif was named one of Philadelphia's "Top Docs" by Philadelphia Magazine. She lectures and writes about women's health issues.
Christine V. Soutendijk, M.D., Assistant Director of the Center, has been an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine since 1998. She is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, where she received the John I. Nurnberger Award for most accomplished student of Psychiatry in her graduating class. Her interest in women's health began in medical school, while writing a literature review on the psychosocial effects of breast cancer. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center/VAMC in Phoenix, Arizona, and became certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1997. She continues to be interested in the effect of disease on mental health and quality of life, as well as special interests in osteoporosis, menopause and metabolic syndrome.
Susan Langmuir, PA-C, joined the Drexel Center for Women’s Health in 1996. A graduate of the Hahnemann Physician Assistant Program, she previously worked in the Emergency Department and the Department of Medicine at Presbyterian University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. She has been active in the women’s health community for many years and has particular commitment to issues of reproductive rights and increasing access to healthcare and health information.
Diana Morgenstern, M.D., has been with the Drexel Center for Women’s Health since 2001. A highly regarded internist, she received her M.D. from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and her B.A. from Yale University. Dr. Morgenstern has been named as one of the Best Doctors in America, NE Region and as a “Top Doc” for women by Philadelphia Magazine.
Shailaja Nair, M.D., joined the faculty of Drexel University College of Medicine in 2006 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine. A graduate of the College of Medicine, Dr. Nair also had extensive medical training in medicine and ob/gyn in her native India. At the Drexel Center for Women’s Health, Dr. Nair has been involved in various research projects, including studies to lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
