Research led by Dr. Sreekant Murthy is seeking to identify the mechanisms for inflammatory process that leads to ulcerative colits and later to cancer. As the developer of one of the most useful models of inflammatory bowel disease. This model of colitis not only develops symptoms and mucosal changes typical of IBD, but in later stages also leads to cancer. Dr. Murthy and his team are using this model to develop a better understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms of inflammation and colon cancer.
