Faculty in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology are actively engaged in a wide spectrum of research activities from clinical epidemiology to molecular biology. The areas of current research noted above are constantly expanding as we seek to identify opportunities to offer state of the art medicine for our patients. Each protocol, however, has in common the faculty’s desire to seek more effective diagnostic or therapeutic tools for our patients. All protocols are thoroughly reviewed by the Universities Office of Research Administration to ensure that the finest quality research is being performed and to encourage the use of all measures to ensure patient safety. A full time research coordinator works with the physicians to screen prospective patients and volunteers for our studies.

Goals:

To use clinical, basic and applied research tools to discover better diagnostic tools and treatments for our patients with disorders of the liver and digestive system.
