At the Pathology Diagnostics Laboratory (PDL), we're committed to providing the highest quality service for outpatient clinicians and facilities.
You'll receive the same technical quality of services provided by national commercial laboratories and hospital-based surgical pathology laboratories with a distinct added advantage... you'll benefit from the academic expertise of the professors at the Drexel University College of Medicine™.
PDL is especially designed to serve outpatient needs with a full range of superior- diagnostic services. Our services are enhanced by state-of-the-art computer technology featuring: • Advanced data management software for recording, tracking, reporting and archiving each specimen. • Digital image capture. • Electronic signature. • Automated fax.
These capabilities enable us to deliver reports of the highest caliber in less time.
Since our laboratory is conveniently located in Philadelphia, you will have easy access to slides and reports as well as the pathologists providing services.
Our pathologists are available to speak with you directly to ensure accurate and complete findings and facilitate the highest quality care for your patients.
If you have an unusual or challenging case, you may also benefit from the extensive experience of our entire academic staff who may conduct a conference case review.
Here's what you can expect from PDL: • Board-certified pathologists. • Complete and accurate data management. • Review and reexamination of previous lab reports and samples for your patients when appropriate. • Reports that include clinical information, gross description, final diagnosis and may include microscopic description and/or patient-focused comments.
PDL also provides these diagnostic services and features that you won't find in a hospital-based surgical pathology system: • Courier pickup of tissue samples at outpatient facilities. • Technical work performed in our independent laboratory • Preliminary reports, usually within one working day, for cases requiring a complex work-up. This includes pathologist name and reason to delay. • Digitized images scanned into reports.
. . . and these diagnostic services and features that aren't available from commercial laboratory systems:
• Academic pathologists report results: • Final reports taxed to your office within one working day. • Slides and paraffin blocks easily accessible to you and your patients. • Slides and digitized images easily accessible for your use during conferences with patients and other clinicians.
PDL provides services for all payers that do not require specimens to be sent to a preferred provider. A list of the insurance carriers we accept is available upon request.
