Daniel V. Schidlow, MD, was appointed Walter H. and Leonore Annenberg Dean and senior vice president, medical affairs, at Drexel University College of Medicine on June 27, 2012. He had served as interim dean and senior vice president of health affairs at the College since November 1, 2011. Previously, he was chairman of the Department of Pediatrics and senior associate dean of the pediatric clinical campus. He also served as the physician-in-chief at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. He continues to be a professor in the Departments of Pediatrics, Pharmacology & Physiology, and Medicine.
Dr. Schidlow specializes in cystic fibrosis and pulmonary conditions in children. He is board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology.
He has been the principal investigator on numerous research studies supported by government and privately funded grants. He has lectured around the world, and has authored or co-authored more than 180 publications. In addition, he serves as a reviewer for several medical journals, including the Journal of Pediatrics. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to medicine and education, including the 2010 Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching. He was listed as a "Best Doctor" in 2009-2010 and 2011-2012.
Dr. Schidlow received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Chile's School of Medicine in Santiago, Chile. He completed his residency in pediatrics at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in New York, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.
Prior to joining the College of Medicine in 1994, Dr. Schidlow served as a professor of pediatrics at Temple University School of Medicine.
