Patient Care

Dr. Glenn W. Laub has performed over 5,000 cardiac surgery operations and has pioneered minimally invasive and valve procedures. He has invented several surgical devices to improve outcomes during heart surgeries.

He also started a company, Defibtech, an award-winning manufacturer of lifesaving AEDs or automatic external difibrillators, used to detect irregularities in heart rhythyms and treat them by electrical therapy. Dr. Laub holds over 40 patents for medical devices, including a less invasive catheter used to connect patients to a heart-lung machine, and one that measures blood flow in a patient's leg.

He was founding president of the 21CCSS, an international cardiac surgery society.

Teaching

Dr. Laub is chair of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery and professor of cardiothoracic surgery. Prior to coming to the College of Medicine, he was director and chair of cardiothoracic surgery at the Heart Hospital at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, N.J. He also held an appointment as clinical associate professor of surgery at Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine.

Dr. Laub has served as principal investigator on more than a dozen research studies and has authored more than 120 manuscripts and abstracts.
