Drexel University College of Medicine

Dr. Hoag is the director of the Drexel Adult Cystic Fibrosis Center. He has served as director of the progressive care unit and MICU – East at Hahnemann University Hospital, and he is currently the director of critical care for Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Eastern Regional Medical Center in Philadelphia.

Dr. Hoag  is active in both cystic fibrosis-specific clinical trials as well as investigator initiated studies. He is a member of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Therapeutics Development Network, and he is a member of the National Resource Center Committee for this network. Recently, he has been selected to be a member of the Chronic Pulmonary Therapies Guidelines Committee for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Dr. Hoag conducts research in several areas including cystic fibrosis, hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, acute lung injury, critical care and interventional pulmonology.

He is internationally known for his research focusing on epistaxis related to hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT). Dr. Hoag also has an interest in the effects of malignancy on the respiratory system, critical care outcomes of cancer patients, and interventional pulmonology. He has published 25 articles focusing on cardiovascular and pulmonary physiology in the peer reviewed literature. He has presented research at the American Thoracic Society and American College of Chest Physicians International meetings. At the latter, he was presented with an award by the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology. Moreover, he presented a plenary session at the International Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia Meeting in Spain in 2009.
