Patient Care

After graduating from Yale School of medicine in 1968, Dr. Lamar Ekbladh interned at Hartford Hospital and did his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at The University of North Carolina. After two years service in the US Navy, he returned to The University of North Carolina and rose to associate professor before leaving for private practice in Williamsburg, VA. After four years, Dr. Ekbladh went to Penn State University School of Medicine, where he served as Director of the Gynecology Division and rose to the rank of professor. He became chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Christiana Hospital, in Newark, DE, and professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine in 1994. After retiring from the Chair at Christiana, he took a position as professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Drexel University School of Medicine.

Dr. Ekbladh has served on numerous national, regional and local committees and task forces.

Dr. Ekbladh has a wonderful and understanding wife, Anita. They were married while he was at Yale and have four children: Annalisa (husband Matt), Sarah, David (wife Leah) and Kristin, as well as two wonderful grandchildren (Annalisa & Matt), Julia and Sam. The Ekbladhs do a lot together and love cruising. They spend their spare time gardening and playing tennis, the first for the head the other for the heart.

Teaching

Dr. Ekbladh is primarily responsible for the education of students and residents and program development. His primary career interest has been in all aspects of medical education. He has served on numerous national, regional and local committees.
