Biography

Dr. Greenberg is a Tenured Professor of Emergency Medicine and a Professor of Public Health at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, and a Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine. He is the program director for the Medical Toxicology Fellowship Training Program at DUCOM, where he also serves as the chief of the Division of Medical Toxicology. Greenberg holds current board certifications in three specialties: medical toxicology, preventive medicine (occupational / environmental medicine) and emergency medicine.

 

He has been elected to fellow status in the American College of Preventive Medicine, the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and the American College of Medical Toxicology. His primary clinical practice involves medical, occupational and environmental toxicology, and he has served as a clinical consultant for the Philadelphia Poison Control Center since 1994.

 

Greenberg is the editor-in-chief of Occupational, Industrial and Environmental Toxicology, published by Harcourt Health Sciences, as well as Greenberg`s Atlas of Emergency Medicine, published by Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins Corp. of Philadelphia. He is the author of over 250 scientific articles, abstracts and book chapters.

 

Greenberg has served as an instructor in the Department of Defense Domestic Preparedness Program and as a consultant regarding chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction to the U.S. State Department`s Bureau of Diplomatic Security and the U.S. Navy`s Office of Homeland Defense. In addition, he has served as principle investigator for several research projects funded by the U.S. Army dealing with hospital preparedness against weapons that might be used by terrorists.

 

Greenberg is an elected member of the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology and he is a charter member of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. He served as Co-Chair of the Medical Review Board of the U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) from 2006 through 2008. He is currently serving as President of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology (AACT).

 

Greenberg served as a medical officer with the United States Marine Corps Reserve while serving in the United States Naval Reserve from 1985 to 1995, and served on active duty during Operation Desert Storm.

 

In 2006, Greenberg was awarded the Williams S. Knudsen Award from the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) in recognition for his contributions to the specialty. This is the highest honor bestowed by ACOEM. In 2008, Greenberg was named as one of the American College of Emergency Medicine’s  “Heroes of Emergency Medicine”.
