Biography

Animals are indispensable to unraveling the medical mysteries that still plague our society.  My work is based on providing a clean, enriched, and healthy environment for animals used in biomedical research.  I assist researchers in the planning and performance of research with special interests in microbiology, immunology, neonatology, and pharmacology.  One focus of my work is in disease transmission between animals and man (zoonoses).

My professional activities also include serving as director of ULAR, associate director for the Master of Laboratory Animal Science (MLAS) program, council member for the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care, International (AAALAC), and president of the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Society of Biomedical Research (PSBR).
