Dr. Kutalek is director of cardiac electrophysiology and associate chief of the Division of Cardiology. He is a national expert in lead extraction, which is the removal of one or more leads or wires that deliver energy from a pacemaker or implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). Dr. Kutalek places in the top tier in the U.S. for the number of lead extractions successfully performed. He serves as a consultant for device companies for future lead technology.

His specialties include pacemakers and new defibrillators, the metabolic aspects of rate-responsive cardiac pacing, and antiarrhythmic medications.

Dr. Kutalek is associate professor in the Departments of Medicine (Division of Cardiology) and Pharmacology and Physiology. He is director of clinical cardiac electrophysiology for Drexel University College of Medicine and runs a successful electrophysiology fellowship program that includes six fellows in training.
