Patient Care

Dr. Wilbur B. Bowne is a graduate of SUNY Downstate Medical School. He completed surgical training at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine and surgical oncology laboratory and clinical fellowships at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Thereafter, he obtained additional training in minimally invasive/laparoscopic surgery.

Prior to being recruited to Drexel University College of Medicine, Dr. Bowne served as Chief of the Section of Surgical Oncology at Downstate Medical Center where he was the American College of Surgeons, Cancer Liaison Physician. Dr. Bowne's expertise includes surgery for the pancreas, liver, bile duct, and gastrointestinal tract. He is extensively published with over 100 peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and book chapters. He is a sought after speaker on the topic of gastrointestinal oncology. Dr. Bowne is also the recipient of numerous awards for teaching and extramural funding for his research in pancreatic cancer.

Dr. Bowne takes great pride in being a member of Drexel University's multidisciplinary cancer team, which treats the most complex patient situations no matter the circumstances or nature of the condition.
