Reporting Randomized Controlled Trials: CONSORT stands for Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials. These standards are initiatives developed by the CONSORT Group to deal with problems arising from inadequate reporting of randomized controlled trials. The CONSORT Statement is endorsed by prominent general medical journals, many specialty medical journals, and leading editorial organizations. Authors submitting manuscripts reporting randomized controlled trials to those journals are expected to adhere to the CONSORT standards. If you are preparing a manuscript that is reporting the results of a randomized controlled trial, please review the detailed explanations of the CONSORT Statement and the CONSORT Explanation and Elaboration Document.
