Thesis Research Summary:

I was born in Lima, the city of the Incas. Since I was very young I knew about my passion for science.  I received my bachelors degree in biology at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. During my junior and senior years at the university I did several rotations in the infectious disease area. My interest in the immunology of infectious diseases grew, and in my senior year I did a study on the cellular immune response in patients who developed pulmonary and extrapulmonary forms of tuberculosis.  Very proud of my origins and with the desire to learn, I came to the United States looking for better opportunities, and now, thanks to Drexel University College of Medicine I am pursuing a Ph.D. degree in microbiology and immunology.
