Microbiology and Immunology Graduate Program

B.S., Biology, Eastern University, St. David’s, Pa.

Email: shawn.erin.keogan@drexel.edu

Advisor: Dr. Fred Krebs

Background and Interests:

I originally attended high school in Maine and later attended college at Eastern University in St. David’s, Pa., where I received a B.S. in biology with a minor in chemistry. It was there that I began research on Toxoplasma gondii parasites, a project that attempted to isolate the gene affected by the administration of various herbicides, which would ultimately aid in creating a tolerable drug form for immunocompromised patients. After graduating I worked for several labs as a toxological chemist and a microbiology technologist in both industrial and clinical settings. In the future I look forward to doing research in drug and vaccine development, researching alternative forms of drugs for cancer patients and vaccines to aid underdeveloped countries.

I enjoy reading, traveling, hiking, and spending time with my family.
