Bone Biology

The Bone Biology Laboratory at Drexel University College of Medicine is dedicated to the study of bone quality, structure and adaptation during growth, aging and disease. Established in 2004 as a joint effort between the departments of Neurobiology & Anatomy and Orthopedic Surgery, the laboratory includes facilities for the preparation and imaging of mineralized tissue specimens. With an interdisciplinary perspective, we strive to better understand bone at all of its hierarchical levels, and apply this knowledge towards improving our understanding of disease in the musculoskeletal system.

The facility aims to provide Drexel students and residents with new opportunities to participate in bone biology research, as well as to foster interdisciplinary research in musculoskeletal biology between Basic Science, Clinical Orthopedics and Engineering disciplines.
