The WOMAN ONE Award, presented by Drexel University College of Medicine's Institute for Women's Health and Leadership, recognizes outstanding women leaders in the Philadelphia community and raises scholarship funds for talented minority women medical students. In 10 years, more than $2.5 million has been raised, including over $500,000 in 2012.

Semingson is the founder and president of DLS International, Inc., a strategic planning and marketing communications firm. Previously she had been an executive with Arco Chemical Company and Hill International. A leader in both the private and public sectors, she currently is on the corporate boards of Semingson Enterprises and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, advisory boards for RevolutionCare/CareKinesis, Inc. and PNC's Women's Financial Services, and the community boards of Avenue of the Arts, Inc., Committee of Seventy, United Way of Southeastern PA, Wilma Theater, and YMCA of Greater Philadelphia & Vicinity. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Women's Forum and Forum of Executive Women and author of Women-Owned Businesses: Work in Progress.

Semingson's accomplishments were recognized during the program by Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter, former Mayor W. Wilson Goode Sr., Drexel University President John A. Fry, and College of Medicine Interim Dean Daniel V. Schidlow, M.D.

Lynn H. Yeakel, director of Drexel University College of Medicine's Institute for Women's Health and Leadership, announced that because of the overwhelming support for Semingson and the 2012 WOMAN ONE program, five female minority students will receive scholarships to Drexel University College of Medicine. They will join 18 current and emeritae Woman One scholars.

Past WOMAN ONE honorees include Estelle Richman ('03); Leslie Anne Miller ('04); Dawn Staley ('05); Suzanne Roberts ('06); Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, M.D., ('07); Stephanie Naidoff ('08); Jane Pepper ('09); Eliana Papadakis ('10); and Sara Manzano-Díaz ('11).
