If you spent this summer lounging on the beach or around the pool, all that time in the sun may have taken a toll on your skin. That's why the Drexel Convenient Care Center is offering a free skin check on Thursday, September 27th from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. No appointment is needed; just walk right in! The Drexel Convenient Care Center is located in the Shops at Liberty Place on 16th Street between Market and Chestnut Streets.

Screening for skin cancer at the Drexel Convenient Care Center.Christina Chung, M.D., assistant professor in the Department of Dermatology, will be on-site providing full skin examinations, including screening for skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers and accounts for nearly half of all cancers in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society.

Exposure to ultraviolet radiation, such as that found in the summer sunlight, is the leading cause of skin cancer. Fair-skinned people and those with close family members who have had skin cancer are at a higher risk of developing the disease and should take extra care to protect their skin, including getting regular skin cancer screenings.
