David J. Schonfeld, M.D., a world-renowned expert in school crisis and bereavement, has been appointed chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Drexel University College of Medicine. He is also the Pediatrician-in-Chief at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.

The Drexel University College of Medicine community will be celebrating the 20th annual Pediatric AIDS Benefit Concert (PABC) on February 16th, 2013. The proceeds of this student-run event support the Pediatric AIDS program at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. The event will be held at the Main Building on Drexel University's main campus on 32nd and Chestnut Streets.

Drexel Medicine is growing. Our new medical practice opened in the University City Science Center at 34th & Market Streets. Drexel Medicine University City will be staffed by faculty physicians from Drexel University College of Medicine's Department of Family, Community & Preventive Medicine.

Eugene Hong, M.D., professor of family, community and preventive medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine, was recently appointed associate dean for primary care and community health. In this role, Hong will be responsible for developing and maintaining a strategic primary care framework for Drexel University College of Medicine and the Drexel University Physicians practice. He will report to the dean of the College of Medicine and the CEO of the physician practice plan.

The new Drexel Medicine website drexelmedicine.org recently won a "Best in Class" award from the Interactive Media Awards (IMA) Competition. The site – launched in August – won in the "Hospital" category.
