Ana Núñez, M.D., associate professor in the Department of Medicine and director of the Center of Excellence and Women’s Health Education Program (WHEP) at Drexel University College of Medicine, has been awarded a three-year grant for $1.5 million by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Women’s Health/Office of Public Health and Science. This grant, entitled the “Mind-Spirit-Body-Health Collaborative,” will support a project with an ultimate goal of reducing gender and ethnic health disparities.

Carolyn O’Connor, M.D., associate professor in the Department of Medicine and chief of the Division of Rheumatology, will be featured in an upcoming episode of the hit show “Mystery Diagnosis,” which airs on the Discovery Health Channel. The series follows the stories of patients who search for years for an accurate diagnosis to a perplexing health problem before finally getting answers and proper treatment.

Drexel University College of Medicine along with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia received contracts today to manage two new study sites in The National Children’s Study. The institutions will manage local participation, recruitment and data collection in Schuylkill County, Pa, and New Castle County, Del. The study is funded by the National Institutes of Health.
