Alyce Belonis, a second-year medical student at Drexel University College of Medicine, has been named a recipient of the American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation’s 2007 Leadership Award. The award provides medical students, residents, fellows, young physicians, and international medical graduate physicians from the around the country special training to develop their skills as future leaders in organized medicine.

Researchers at Drexel University College of Medicine have made a key discovery about the mitochondrial functions of the malaria parasite. Their study, published in the March 1 issue of the journal Nature, is a significant step to developing new, more effective anti-malarial drugs, and to understanding mitochondrial evolution as a whole.

Have a wonderful night out at the Pediatric AIDS Benefit Concert on Saturday, January 27, 2007, at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the entertainment will begin at 7. This annual student-run event raises money for the HIV/AIDS clinic at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.
