Philadelphia, PA (April 5, 2011) – A woman suffers a heart attack every minute in the United States. Yet only half of women say they would call 9-1-1 if they thought they were having a heart attack, and many women did not recognize several key symptoms, according to a 2009 American Heart Association survey. That is why the Women's Health Education Program at Drexel University College of Medicine has teamed up with the Department of Health & Human Services' Office on Women's Health to launch a new initiative to increase awareness and recognition of the seven most common heart attack symptoms among women and encourage the use of the 9-1-1 emergency response system when these symptoms occur.

It's one of the most exciting days in a medical student's education. Known as Match Day, it's the day when students learn where they will complete their residency training. And for the second year in a row, more graduating U.S. medical students matched to residencies in primary care.

Drexel University College of Medicine is a proud sponsor of Anatomy/Academy – Philadelphia Nexus of Art and Science, an exciting new exhibition at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA). Running January 27 – April 17, Anatomy/Academy is the first exhibition to focus on how Philadelphia's dynamic art and science communities collaborated to advance knowledge of the human body and transform the attitudes of the public towards mental and physical health.
