Drexel University College of Medicine offers 14 Summer Research Fellowships for first-year medical students. This opportunity is only available to first-year medical students who are enrolled at Drexel University College of Medicine. The purpose of this program is to identify opportunities for first-year medical students to engage in full-time research under the direction of a Drexel University faculty member. Previous research experience is helpful but not required.
If you are interested in developing your own project, be sure to check our list of Past Faculty Mentors for suggestions of faculty to contact.
Selected students should expect to spend six weeks working full time (minimum of 40 hours per week) on projects with their faculty sponsors. Fellows will be paid stipends of $1,750 and cannot receive any other University-funded income during this period.
Students will work on their projects during the summer. Fellowship recipients are required to submit a summary report of their research experience at the conclusion of the research project. Students are required to present their work at the College of Medicine's annual day of research, Discovery Day, held in October of every year.
