Welcome to the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies! The school builds on the rich history of excellence in scientific training programs at Drexel University College of Medicine. The key mission of the Graduate School is to provide innovative, cross-disciplinary, intellectually diverse academic programs that are integral to a comprehensive 21st century graduate education.
The collaborative nature of the new Graduate School with other Drexel schools (Engineering and College of Arts and Sciences, among others) provides students with a multi-disciplinary advantage. Coupled with the solid foundation afforded by a Drexel education, innovation-driven programming offers students a unique experience to launch their careers in their chosen field of study.

Division of Biomedical Science Programs
The Division of Biomedical Science programs includes five interdisciplinary research training programs that are designed to prepare PhD, MD/PhD, and MS students for research-intensive career paths. The programs provide for a broad fundamental foundation in the biomedical sciences; specialized instruction in discipline-specific advanced courses; and development, design and execution of original research projects. Hallmarks of the programs are a highly collaborative research environment, mentorship by nationally and internationally recognized scientists, an outstanding support staff, and individualized attention to professional career development.
Dr. Barry Waterhouse oversees the division and is committed to training scientists who are well rounded professionals with outstanding academic credentials.

Division of Interdisciplinary and Career-oriented Programs
The Division of Interdisciplinary and Career-oriented programs includes eleven diverse programs ranging from Clinical Research and Organizational Management to Laboratory Animal Science that are designed to prepare students for specialized careers in biomedical science. The programs provide rigorous instruction, research and internship opportunities and access to active professionals and are appropriate for recent college graduates or working professionals seeking career advancement or to broaden their career options.
Dr. Paul McGonigle oversees the division and is focused on expanding while maintaining the quality of current programs and working with the other colleges and schools at Drexel to develop new programs that cross disciplinary boundaries.

Division of Pre-medical and Pre-health Programs
The Division of Pre-medical and Pre-health programs includes seven highly rigorous programs designed to meet the needs of those seeking to enhance or further prepare and enrich their credentials for application to the healthcare professions. These programs offer students a variety of curricular options, so that they receive the most advantageous education possible given their individual entry credentials.
Dr. Minugh-Purvis oversees the design, academic rigor and analysis of outcomes of the Graduate School programs for pre-medical, pre-veterinary, pre-dental and other pre-health profession students. An emphasis is placed on enhancement of the quality of programming, guidance in the professional school application process, interprofessional education and advisement in health profession career choice, professional development and increasing clinical and community service opportunities for students.
