The Office of Professional Studies in the Health Sciences offers a variety of programs that help better position students and professionals for careers in the health sciences.
PREMED PROGRAMS
These courses prepare students for entry into medical, dental, optometry, chiropractic, podiatric and veterinary medical schools. We have helped thousands of students gain entry to these professional schools, as well as advanced degree programs.
International students who hold appropriate student visas and need to improve their academic credentials for application to medical schools may apply to our Master of Science in Medical Science (MMS) or Master of Science in Biological Science (MBS) programs. At a minimum, applicants who wish to be considered for the MMS or MBS programs must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, have completed all of the pre-medical school course requirements (one year each of biology, chemistry, organic chemistry and physics with laboratory sections) and have taken the MCAT. Applicants who have only taken the GRE exam can only apply to the MBS program. Applicants from non-English speaking nations must also sit for the TOEFL exam and show sufficient proficiency in English. The MMS program is available on both our Sacramento, California and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania campuses while the MBS program is only available in Philadelphia.
We currently have linkage agreements with several international medical schools for international students who successfully complete our programs and meet the academic requirements set by each medical school. Agreements with additional schools are in progress.
Please note that Drexel University College of Medicine's M.D. program does not accept international students.
PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS
These courses offer targeted training to further the careers of those working in—or those wishing to pursue—careers in the health sciences.
Our animal science programs augment student applications to veterinary school and offer specific training for those interested in animal laboratory management:
Forensics programs train students in the real-world application of forensic science or enhance one's application to heatlh professional schools:
Allied health profession programs train individuals to work alongside pathologists. This may include careers in the allied health sciences, clinical laboratory science, tissue diagnosis and structure.
Clinical research programs address the need for highly trained and qualified clinical research professionals in the biopharma industry, academic medicine and regulatory affairs:
