Professional Studies in the Health Sciences

Mission Statement

The goal of the Office of Professional Studies in the Health Sciences is to help accomplished students gain new knowledge in the biological sciences so that they may be better positioned to enter medical or other health professional schools or the job market in related fields. The programs have been assisting students in reaching their professional goals since 1981, with well over 1,000 students entering more than 75 percent of the U.S. allopathic medical schools and nearly all of the U.S. osteopathic schools.

We have added many new and exciting programs over the years; several are unique graduate programs. All of these programs offer rigorous educational opportunities for students to learn from experts in the field that will position them for further professional studies or careers in the health sciences. Our programs prepare students for entry into many doctoral and professional  graduate programs, including medical, dental, podiatric, and veterinary medical schools.

Our Master of Science programs train students to work in many fields, including forensic and criminalistic science, pathologists’ assistantships, laboratory animal science, clinical research, and histotechnology. We also cater to individuals seeking to change their careers.

The office faculty and staff are dedicated to meeting the needs of the student, where individual counseling and advising are available to every student. While the primary emphasis of the full-time faculty is the delivery of outstanding didactic material, many are also involved in research and administrative activities. The adjunct faculty who teach in our programs are all experts in their respective fields. This allows the student to receive the most current material in the field and, in many cases, also opens opportunities for students to be mentored by these experts.
