The one-year Medical Science Preparatory (MSP) graduate level certificate program is designed to help students enhance their academic credentials for application to medical or other health professional schools. The program has been designed to help students improve their academic science background and help them prepare for their MCAT test or improve current MCAT scores.
Medical Science Preparatory Curriculum
The curriculum offers graduate-level biological science coursework, undergraduate review courses in physics, chemistry, and organic chemistry, a community outreach course, and an MCAT preparation and review course.
The undergraduate level review courses in physics and chemistry are designed to help with the physical and biological science sections of the MCAT. In addition, the classes incorporate a complete year-long MCAT preparation course on campus by Princeton Review.

Medical Science Preparatory Program Admissions
Applicants to the Medical Science Preparatory program must have already fulfilled undergraduate pre-medical requirements and demonstrated mastery of the material at a minimum grade of C or better. These requirements include a year of biology, chemistry, physics and organic chemistry, including respective laboratory sections. Applicants are required to submit official MCAT scores if the exam was taken, or general GRE scores in lieu of the MCAT. MCAT scores of 17 to 27 and GRE scores in the 70th percentile are acceptable for application to the program. An undergraduate math/science and overall GPA of 3.00 are appropriate for application. The program does not have cut offs for GPA, MCAT and/or GRE scores, but it is required that applicants are showing a marked improvement in their academic history. Health care-related experiences, community service, research, leadership and extracurricular activities are also taken into consideration with the application.
Successful Program Completion
Students who complete and pass all courses included in the Medical Science Preparatory program curriculum with a minimum grade of C, achieve a minimum 2.75 graduate GPA, and release new official MCAT (DAT, etc.) scores to the program will be granted a certificate of program completion. Students typically begin the application to medical or other health professional schools following successful completion of this one-year program. Students continue to receive assistance from the office during this application process.
Students achieving a minimum 3.00 graduate GPA and an MCAT score of 27 or better are granted a guaranteed acceptance into the Master of Biological Science (MBS) program. Completion of the MBS program leads to a Master of Science degree.
