Starting fall 2011, there will be two entryways into the Master of Science in Biological Science program. The traditional pathway into the program involved successful completion of the Medical Science Preparatory program before transitioning into the Master of Science in Biological Science program. Now, students are permitted to enter the Master of Science in Biological Science program at the outset, still completing the Medical Science Preparatory program first. Having these two entryways allows students to either complete a one-year certificate program, saving them time and money if they only need a one-year enhancement program, or enter the two-year graduate program knowing they are going to complete the two-year program. International students who will benefit from having a second year of challenging academic coursework will benefit from being allowed to participate in the Master of Science in Biological Science year, while working towards a graduate degree.
Admissions to Drexel University College of Medicine's M.D. Program
We are excited to announce that Drexel University College of Medicine will make available a minimum of 25 seats in its entering medical school class to be competitively selected from students in the Philadelphia and Sacramento Interdepartmental Medical Science Certificate program and the Master of Science in Biological Science and Master of Science in Medical Science programs.
The one-year Medical Science Preparatory Certificate program students who complete the program with a B average or higher and sit for the MCAT may elect to continue on for a second year to enter the Master of Science in Biological Science program. Additionally, students who know from the outset that they want to enter a master's program can directly apply to the Master of Science in Biological Science program.
