For Memorial Day and Labor Day holidays, vacation begins 5 p.m. Friday. Class resumes on Tuesday morning.

*There are no days off during clerkships. All academic and clinical assignments missed during an absence must be completed satisfactorily before academic credit can be awarded for the course/clerkship. To be excused, absences that can be anticipated (e.g., ongoing physician appointments that cannot be scheduled after hours) must be requested in writing and approved by the course/clerkship director prior to the beginning of the clerkship. Requests for time off for observance of religious holidays must be submitted in writing at the beginning of the academic year according to policy; it is still the student's responsibility to notify the clerkship director in advance of the rotation of their approved requested time off.

Time away from fourth-year clinical rotation assignments for the purpose of interviewing for residencies is permitted under the following conditions: A maximum of two days' absence in any four-week rotation is permitted for residency interviewing during interview season only. The student is responsible for obtaining faculty approval for such absences before they occur per the posted policy with a completed form. A course director has the prerogative to assign makeup work for any absence from a clinical rotation even during interviews.

Absences without prior notification of the faculty will be considered as unexcused absences, and potentially subject to action of the year-appropriate Student Promotions Committee.
