Ongoing Support Groups for Families Coping with Cancer
Starting in September 2009, this support group will focus on all families coping with cancer.

Social Work Services
A full-time licensed social worker is on call Monday through Friday for psychosocial support of patients and their families, which includes individual counseling, support and referrals to appropriate community agencies.
Patient Navigation Program
Through one-on-one contact, the oncology nurse navigator works with patients to help them solve problems and overcome barriers that might keep them from getting the care they need. This program clears the path from timely diagnosis and treatment through to resolution; and provides patient education on treatments and side effects. Art Therapy
This program fosters creative expression through visual artistic media and addresses coping strategies, self-exploration and inner strength. Open to all levels of ability and experience. Art Open Studio and individual sessions meet three days a week.
Coping Club
A support group, with the social worker, is open to patients, families and caregivers. Meets every Tuesday, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m., in the Radiation Oncology Conference Room.
Couple and Family Therapy Interns
Program that provides individual and family counseling. By appointment. This is sponsored through the College of Nursing and Health Professions Programs in Couple and Family Therapy.
I Can Cope
An educational series taught by healthcare professionals that addresses such topics as cancer and treatment, managing side effects, emotional concerns, community resources and support, relieving cancer pain, understanding money matters and nutritional well-being. Sponsored by the American Cancer Society.
Leukemia & Lymphoma Support Group
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society sponsors educational programs for patients, families and caregivers. Offered in the Spring and Fall.
Look Good Feel Better
A program that teaches beauty techniques to women who are actively undergoing cancer treatment to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of radiation and chemotherapy. This program is a partnership of the American Cancer Society, the National Cosmetology Association and the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association Foundation. Meets second Monday of every other month (except July and August), 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.; location varies.
Man To Man
Monthly meetings for men with prostate cancer that provide education and the opportunity to network with others who have the same diagnosis. Sponsored by the American Cancer Society and Hahnemann University Hospital. Meets every 4th Wednesday of the month, from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m., in the Feinstein Building, 5th Floor.
Nutritional Services
A registered dietitian is available to patients and their families for one to one dietary consultations. A series of patient education workshops offer assistance for coping with the nutritional side effects of cancer treatments. Consultations available as needed.
