Sports medicine is for people of all ages and activity levels, from casual walkers to weekend warriors to Division I athletes.
Our sports medicine specialists are experts in:

- Injury prevention
- Conditioning
- Diagnosing and managing exercise-related illness and injuries
- Rehabilitation
We are on the leading edge of sports medicine diagnostics and treatment:
Our physicians now utilize ultrasound, the same technology that is used to monitor babies in the womb. Ultrasound can help diagnose minor to serious injuries to tendons and ligaments in knees, shoulders, wrists and other areas that are often injured during physical activities. These areas are sometimes difficult to assess using x-rays, CT scans, or MRIs. In addition to superior diagnostic capabilities, ultrasound technology involves no ionizing radiation, and therefore can be repeated throughout the course of treatment of an injury without concern for the total amount of radiation delivered to the patient.
Our office also offers a new and promising treatment for many athletic injuries, including sprains, strains, and tendon injuries: platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy. This brief out-patient procedure involves introducing PRP, one of the three components of blood, at the site of an injury. The healing powers of PRP enhance the body's natural ability to mend itself, often negating the need for an inpatient surgical procedure.
