Capsule Endoscopy
When standard diagnostic endoscopy cannot determine the cause of an unexplained gastrointestinal (GI) disorder, doctors turn to capsule endoscopy, using a large vitamin-sized capsule that contains a camera to view the small intestine. It's the test of choice for such unresolved cases, according to gastroenterologist Joyann Kroser, M.D., clinical associate professor in the Gastroenterology/Hepatology Division of the Department of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine.
