Regular nutritional assessment and counseling are essential components in the management of HIV disease. The Partnership has a full-time nutritionist who specializes in the very diverse nutritional needs of people with HIV. Available at regular medical visits, or by special appointment, the nutritionist will evaluate current diet and nutritional needs and develop a plan that meets individual needs.

Services offered include bioelectric impedance analysis, community food access, meal planning, diet counseling, and food safety education. A proactive approach is used to provide patients with skills to maintain a healthy nutritional status.

Nutritional groups are available to provide the latest information in an interactive setting. “Better Bites” is a nutrition group which addresses a variety of diet, exercise, food preparation, and food safety issues. A diabetes support group is offered to address the challenges of HIV positive individuals who have the additional task of managing diabetes.
