He has 15 years of expertise in the treatment of acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. Drexel's program offers thrombolytic therapy and mechanical thrombectomy. We do research in acute reperfusion, in-hospital stroke management, stroke & neurocritical care outcomes, and clinical pharmacologic and device trials.
Robert Koenigsburg, D.O. is the director of Interventional Neurology. He has 30 years of expertise in arterial stenting, mechanical thrombectomy, intra-arterial thrombolysis, and endovascular aneurysm coiling. This physician's clinical practice is independent of Drexel University College of Medicine.
Members of the stroke center also collaborate with cardiologists, interventional cardiologists and cardiac surgeons to ensure that all causes of stroke are addressed.
Drexel Stroke Research
Research is an important part of the stroke center. Clinicians in the stroke center are active in ongoing clinical research and collaborate with scientists from many and varied disciplines to determine why strokes occur, who is at risk for stroke, how best to diagnose and evaluate a stroke patient, what is the best management and how can recovery be stimulated.
