Urogynecology

Female urinary tract

Urogynecology is a sub-specialty of obstetrics and gynecology that focuses on disorders affecting organs in the female pelvis: the bladder and uterus as well as the muscles and connective tissues supporting them. If you are struggling to cope with urinary or sexual health issues, you will find a compassionate, caring resource at Drexel. The Pelvic and Sexual Health Institute, a clinical practice that is independent of Drexel University College of Medicine, offers the latest treatments to help women gain peace of mind and a better quality of life.

The Pelvic and Sexual Health Institute provides treatment for:
  • Pelvic organ prolapse—dropped bladder, uterus, vagina or rectum
  • Urinary incontinence—urine leakage
  • Overactive bladder—frequent urge to urinate
  • Interstitial cystitis—recurrent urinary tract infections
  • Vulvodynia—vulvar and vaginal pain
  • Dyspareunia—vaginal pain during sex
  • Sexual dysfunction—difficulty with orgasm, arousal or desire
