Testing

How Does HIV Testing Work?

Most HIV tests (at clinics, doctor's offices, and testing sites) are designed to detect the antibodies that the body produces to fight HIV once infection has occurred, but do not test for the virus itself.  Most people will develop detectable antibodies within three months, but it can take up to six months in some cases.

Where To Test?

Here at St. Christopher’s Hospital our staff offers free, confidential HIV antibody testing and counseling at our office located at E. Erie & N. Front St, 3rd Floor (Immunology) Philadelphia, PA 19134, using OraQuick Rapid HIV-1/2 Antibody Test.

No appointment is necessary. Test results are available within 30 minutes.

Testing Hours: Monday thru Friday– 9:00am - 4:00 pm or view our "Community Events" page for offsite events.

Please contact us (215-427-5284) to arrange after hours testing or for more information.

Why Test?

If you have been diagnosed with any sexually transmitted disease (STD), you could have been exposed to HIV.

It is a good way to learn more about HIV, prevention and risk reduction methods (as well as obtain some safer sex supplies).

Applied Knowledge is Power!! If you have HIV, St. Christopher’s is well-equipped to provide you with primary and specialized healthcare to ensure that you remain safe and healthy.
