In 1962, the cost of a new house was $12,500, average monthly rent was $110 per month, the Cuban Missile Crisis nearly brought the world to the brink of world war, Marilyn Monroe was found dead, the first Wal-Mart opened, “Love Me Do” by the Beatles was released, “Lawrence of Arabia” won Best Picture, and you took the Oath of Hippocrates and joined the ranks of the medical profession. Much has happened in the last 50 years, and spending time with your classmates to reminisce about your medical school days and share your life experiences as physicians is what makes this event so special.
This momentous occasion is planned to coincide with the College of Medicine’s Commencement. The Class of 1962 is invited to participate in the graduation events, including robing with the Class of 2012 and occupying a place of honor during the commencement ceremony. This once in a lifetime celebration is not to be missed! We encourage you to share the memories and join in the fun of celebrating your 50 Year Reunion from medical school.

Welcome Reception & Tour of the Medical School (Complimentary)
5:30 p.m.; Queen Lane Medical Campus, 2900 Queen Lane, East Falls
Meet and greet your classmates while catching up on the last fifty years at our opening welcome event. Cocktails and a delicious selection of tasty dishes will be elegantly served by one of the city’s finest caterers, Provence. In addition, our student ambassadors will be on hand to give you a personalized tour of our beautiful medical school and share with you what life is like as a medical student in 2012. Note: Round trip shuttle transportation will be provided but you must register for this service.

Whether you are a native or visiting for the first time in 50 years, there is always something new to learn about Philadelphia. We want to be sure that you get the most out of your Philadelphia experience by exploring our history, our culture, our architecture, and our neighborhoods. The “Awfully Nice Tour Guides” are experts on the city and its history and have created a unique tour for our group.
Note: Round-trip shuttle transportation will be provided from one center city location The Union League of Philadelphia, 140 South Broad Street. The shuttle will depart at 9:30 AM.
Hyatt at the Bellevue Class Dinner ($75 per person)

The Class Dinner at the Bellevue will be one of the highlights of the 50 Year Reunion celebration. Join your classmates for this special event that promises to be full of laughter and magic moments. Hyatt at the Bellevue, is one of the most beautiful and historic buildings in Philadelphia. It provides an elegant setting for you to enjoy a wonderful dinner, renewing old friendships and reminiscing about your medical school days.

College of Medicine Commencement
8:00 a.m.; The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, 260 South Broad Street, Philadelphia
One of the most memorable moments occurs as members of the 50 Year Reunion Class are invited to robe and participate in the Commencement ceremony with the 2012 graduating class and faculty. The Class of 1962 will be seated in a special place of honor and acknowledged by the President during the program. This ceremony has touched the hearts of so many of our past 50 Year Reunion alumni, so we encourage you to participate. Ceremony participants do not need a ticket; they will be given one VIP ticket for a guest. If you are not participating in the ceremony, you will receive two VIP tickets. (Commencement tickets are limited due to the size of the class of 2012.)
50th Reunion Celebration Luncheon (1962 alum complimentary, guests $40 per person)
11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.; Union League of Philadelphia, 140 South Broad Street, Philadelphia
Your 50 Year Reunion Celebration culminates with a special luncheon at the historic Union League. Members of the class will be inducted into the Golden Dragon Society and presented with society pins and certificates. We are certain that you will enjoy a unique presentation detailing the legacies of both Hahnemann and Woman’s Medical College beautifully blended together to tell the story and the history of the College of Medicine.

Free Shuttle and Parking During 50th Reunion Weekend
A free shuttle will transport alumni from the reunion hotels to the Queen Lane Campus and back for Wednesday’s Welcome Reception and Tour of the Medical School. Free parking will also be available on Wednesday at the Queen Lane Campus, 2900 W. Queen Lane, Philadelphia, PA. Shuttles will transport alumni from the Kimmel Center on Friday to the Union League for the luncheon. You must pre-register for all shuttles.
The Class of 1962 Directory
The directory is always a cherished memento of the celebration. It will include updates and contact information on fellow classmates including personal photos and memorable anecdotes. Please be sure to send in your completed directory form even if you are unable to attend (no CVs please).
