For Research Participants

Clinical trials are a vital foundation for everyday treatment. When you receive a prescription for a drug from your doctor or your treatment involves a medical device, those drugs or devices were initially the focus of a clinical trial. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) require that all drugs and devices used for standard medical treatment undergo a series of studies to determine their safety and efficacy. These studies are called clinical trials.

Your participation in clinical trials plays an important role in this country's medical advancement and may allow you to obtain new medical treatment not available to the public. Participating in a clinical trial is a personal decision.
