Because of the importance of research in undergraduate medical education, Drexel University College of Medicine has established the Office of Research for Medical Students. The office is jointly staffed through the Office of Biomedical Graduate Studies and the Career Development Center. This site was created to help medical students at Drexel find information on student research opportunities, summer externships, international and award opportunities. Learn more about the M.D. academic program.
A variety of opportunities are available to students who are interested in doing research while in medical school. Information about research taking place at Drexel may be found by using the Biomedical Graduate Studies searchable database; follow the links to the various departments to learn more about the research interests of the faculty.
Information on the Medical Student Summer Research Fellowship Program can also be found on this site. The summer program is a great opportunity for first-year medical students to engage in full-time research under the direction of a member of the faculty. Previous research experience is helpful but not required. Information is also available in the Office of Biomedical Graduate Studies (Suite 239 Queen Lane). Michele Morales will help you identify faculty with whom you might like to work.
M.D. Research Scientist Programs
Drexel University College of Medicine is committed to providing every medical student the opportunity to participate in research. In an effort to formalize the various opportunities we propose to establish the M.D. Research Scientist Programs.
The M.D./Ph.D. program is designed for a limited number of students who wish to pursue careers as physician scientists. M.D./Ph.D. students spend their first two years in medical school, followed by three to four years of Ph.D. training, and then return to medical school for the last two years. The program includes a full tuition scholarship and stipend throughout the entire program.
