Selection Process
Submission of Applications
The program only accepts applications transmitted through the ERAS system.
Review of Applications
Applications will be reviewed to determine if they are complete. The applicants are reviewed on the basis of scholastic achievement, academic credentials, overall personal qualities, letters of recommendations and USMLE scores.
Invite to the Interview
Candidates will be invited for an interview based on a review of the application materials mentioned above. An appropriate number between 50 and 60 applicants will be offered an interview by the program director.
Interview and Post-Interview Selection
The candidate interviews are conducted by the program director and his/her designees. At the conclusion of the interview day, the information gained from the various individuals who had contact with the applicant is summarized and the applicant is re-evaluated in light of all the information that is available.
Candidates are subsequently re-evaluated based on the information in the file as well as additional information that becomes available. The program director and program chairman in consultation with members of the faculty and residents determine the final rank order that is submitted to the NRMP and GME offices.
Please note that residents are employed by and insured by the hospital; they are not employees of Drexel University College of Medicine.
