NBPME Parts I, II & III
Incoming resident must successfully pass parts I, II & III of the National Board of Podiatric Examiners in order to be eligible for a Pennsylvania DPM license.
Any incoming resident not eligible to apply for and/or obtain a Pennsylvania DPM license will be released immediately from the PM&S 36 program and the position will not be held open.
Pennsylvania DPM License (PGY1, PGY2 & PGY3)
Obtaining DPM license from the Pennsylvania Department of State is the responsibility of the incoming resident, as well as the licensure fee. Employment contract will not be fully executed until such time as DPM license is presented to your assigned GME program coordinator.
Each resident will be responsible for maintaining a current Pennsylvania DPM license, as well as the associated renewal fee. Any resident who allows his/her Pennsylvania DPM license to expire will be unable to perform the scope of residency duties and will either be put on suspension or terminated until such time as license is re-instated and presented to program coordinator and GME office.
DEA Certificate (PGY2 & 3)
Obtaining DEA certificate from the US Department of Justice is the responsibility of each PGY2 and PGY3 resident, as well as the registration cost. (Note: Valid Pennsylvania DPM license required prior to applying for DEA certificate.)
Each PGY2 and PGY3 resident will be responsible for maintaining a current DEA certificate, as well as the associated renewal fee.
Any resident who is not in possession of a valid DEA certificate will be restricted from writing any patient scripts, both in and out of the hospital setting.
Please note that residents are employed by and insured by the hospital; they are not employees of Drexel University College of Medicine.
